What to expect

What to expect with All Weather at Home Installation Services

Replacing your windows and doors is a great way to conserve energy, which can have a direct impact on your utility bill and can also increase the value of your home. But, it’s also an important investment into your home — you’re bound to have questions.

Our team of experts at All Weather at Home Installation Services can provide the answers you need so you can make decisions with confidence. Here’s a quick look at what you might expect when you replace your windows and doors with All Weather at Home Installation Services from beginning to end.

Is it time to replace my windows and doors?

Maybe you already know you need new windows or doors. But if you don’t, you can find several common signs that your home is in need of new windows in this article. For doors, the same principles apply. Check for signs of damage, drafts, gaps or daylight coming through the edge of the doors. These could be signs that the seals are not working properly.

For windows and doors, their age could also be a good indicator that a change is needed too. Generally speaking, windows and doors can last a while, but it really depends on the type of windows and doors you have, when they were installed, and whether they were installed properly or not. New windows and doors are also a great upgrade for your house’s curb appeal, which is particularly useful if you’re planning on selling your house.

Step 1. Get started with a free in-home consultation

There’s a lot of information out there about windows and doors. It can be a bit overwhelming. But every home is different and will require a customized approach. Save yourself the time and stress, and cut through all the clutter by giving us a call to schedule a free, no-obligation, in-home consultation.

Our sales representatives are experts and will take the time to understand your needs and assess the windows and doors at your home. They will walk you through all your options, give a detailed overview of every step in the process, and leave you with an estimate so you can make an informed decision based on what works best for you.

No matter where you’re at with your doors or windows — if you’re ready to commit, have upcoming renovation plans, or you’re just thinking about a replacement and have questions — our sales representative will happily meet with you.

Here are a few of the more common questions we can answer before your consultation:

How much can I expect to pay for new doors and windows?
There are a number of factors that will impact the cost of your investment, including the size, type and number of windows or doors you want to replace.

For a single, standard-sized, double-paned window, you can expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $2,000, which includes the cost of installation. For a new, standard-sized door, you can expect to pay $800 to $5,000, which includes the cost of installation.

These are just general price ranges meant to give you a sense of what you might expect. Our sales representatives will be able to give you a more specific estimate and can also help find ways to work within your budget.

When is the best time to replace my window or door?
A lot of people wonder if there’s a better time to replace windows and doors. The answer is — there is never a bad time to replace old windows or doors — we can do it virtually all year round as long as the weather is above -15°C. Your installation will be planned around the weather if it’s ever too cold. There are a few steps involved before installation, so you can start the process anytime. Start by giving us a call for your free, in-home consultation.

How long does it take to get my new window or door?
From the moment you sign off on your estimate to installation day can be anywhere from 1 to 4 months depending on the season and volume. Keep in mind that this can be impacted by several factors, including size and complexity of your order and, of course, any issues with supply chains. We manufacture all of our doors and windows locally.

Step 2. Getting ready for the installation

Once you have decided to move ahead with the estimate, we’ll get right to work. The sales expert you worked with will make sure you’re ready for installation day, but here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect.

After you have confirmed with us that you’re good with the estimate, a certified installer will book an appointment to confirm all dimensions and familiarize themselves with the job at hand. All products will be custom made to your size requirements. When your doors or windows are almost ready, we will be in touch to schedule your installation typically within a few weeks from the time we call. We’ll need at least a few hours for a single window or door installation. For installations with more than one window or door, we may need either a full or half day.

For window installations, we’ll ask that you remove any window coverings, blinds or drapes and clear the area around the window providing at least 4 feet of space from every point of the window for our installers to work.

For door installations, similarly, we’ll ask that you remove anything from the existing door and frame and clear an area of at least 4 feet for the installation process. If you would like us to reuse the existing hardware (the door knobs and locks), as well as doorbells, let your installer know. If you have new hardware or doorbells you would like to use, please have that ready for our team on installation day.

Step 3. Installation day

When the day arrives, our certified installers will call when they’re on their way so you know to expect us. The team of certified installers will arrive and will plan to park their truck on the street where space allows. If there are any issues with parking around your home, please let our team know where the best place to park is when they call.

Before we start any of the work, the team will do a meticulous site assessment to ensure everyone’s safety, limit the disruption and avoid any potential mess in your home. Once the site has been inspected, the team will get set up and go to work.

They will start by removing the old window or doors and their frames entirely. Your new window or door will come with a new frame — this allows us to take advantage of technological advances and new standards for seals and insulation making your home more energy efficient. As part of your purchase, we also remove all of the old windows and doors from your property so it’s taken care of for you!

Once the old window or door and the frames are fully removed, the opening will be cleared, shimmed and prepared for the new window or door to be installed, back sealed and insulated. The new casing and caps that you chose with our sales representative (and hardware for doors), will be installed for a maintenance-free finish.

As a last step, our team will clean up and walk you through the site to ensure the windows or doors are up to your standards — as well as our own!

Step 4. Know your maintenance and warranty

All of our products come with a standard 20-year limited warranty on uPVC components and sealed window units. Moreover, we stand by all of the products we manufacture through a comprehensive 2-year service & labour warranty and a 5-year installation warranty.

That means, if you ever have an issue with your doors or windows, we will make sure it gets fixed — even if that means replacing them altogether. Our products are made locally and we are confident in our work, which is why we provide a guarantee through this warranty.

Warranty information can be found on our website and it’s also provided when you work with us. Please refer to the maintenance and cleaning schedule that helps to maintain the longevity of your windows and doors.

If you have any questions after we have completed the installation process, you can contact your sales representative or our customer service team. Should you need service in future you can request support online using this link.
