At All Weather at Home, we’ve always believed that the smallest details often make the biggest impact. That’s why we’re expanding our Simulated Divided Lite (SDL) offering — giving you more ways to personalize the look and feel of your home, from the curb to the back garden.
What is an SDL?
SDL stands for Simulated Divided Lite — a design feature that mimics the traditional look of divided window panes by applying grilles (called bars or muntins) to the surface of the glass. It brings character, architectural charm, and a crafted finish to windows and doors — without compromising energy efficiency or ease of maintenance. It’s where heritage meets performance.
New Colours to Match Your Vision
Starting April 23, 2025, we’re introducing five new wrapped uPVC SDL colours designed to align with our current frame offerings and respond to evolving design trends:
- Anthracite Grey
- Architectural Brown
- Chocolate Brown
- Pebble
- Stainable Fir (interior side only)
The first four colours will be available for both interior and exterior applications across all compatible window series and Vantage patio doors. Stainable Fir is available on the interior side only — a perfect choice for those seeking a natural wood look that can be finished to suit any interior palette.
More Than Windows: SDL on Doors
Design consistency matters. That’s why we’re extending SDL availability beyond windows and patio doors to entry doors and sidelites, so homeowners can now achieve a unified design language across every entrance.
Whether you’re working with a factory-painted steel door, a customer-finished fibreglass door, or a pre-stained slab, we’ve structured SDL compatibility to support a seamless match. Here’s how it breaks down:
- Fibreglass Doors (finished on-site):
- Use aluminum SDLs if painting
- Use wood SDLs if staining
- Fibreglass Doors (factory painted by All Weather at Home):
- Aluminum SDLs, colour-matched to door slab and insert frame
- Fibreglass Doors (factory stained by All Weather at Home):
- Wood SDLs, colour-matched to door slab and insert frame
- Steel Doors:
- Aluminum SDLs in base white or matched to pre-finished black exterior/white interior
- Doors with Sidelites or Transoms:
- SDLs will match the clad frame colour on the exterior
- Interior side uses wood SDLs, ready to be finished on site
- Composite Frame Entry Doors:
- Will use white or black PVC SDLs on both interior and exterior sides
- These are the only doors where wrapped PVC SDLs will be used
Why Now?
This expansion is a direct response to market demand and customer feedback. Homeowners and builders alike have been asking for greater design freedom — especially when it comes to colour consistency and entry door aesthetics. With these updates, we’re not just meeting the market. We’re raising the bar.
