Introducing Our Updated Low-E Glass Series: Same Performance, Simpler Choices

At All Weather at Home, we’re relentless about one thing: making comfort simple. That’s why we’ve refreshed the way we talk about our Low-E glass offerings. The performance hasn’t changed—but how you understand and choose the right option for your home just got a whole lot easier.

As of March 26, 2025, we’ve rolled out new names for our glass series and introduced six high-performance Low-E 366 heat systems under a new series called ComfortMax 366. These changes reflect what homeowners care most about: a home that feels just right, season after season.

New Names, Same Proven Performance

Our Low-E glass series now speak directly to the comfort they deliver:

  • ComfortGain 180 (formerly Low-E 180): For those who want to capture more of the sun’s warmth and invite natural heat into their space.
  • ComfortPlus 270 (formerly SunStop or Low-E 270): For year-round comfort in mixed climates—balancing solar heat control and insulation.
  • ComfortMax 366 (NEW): For those looking for peak performance across the board—minimal solar heat gain, high insulation, and maximum UV protection.

We’ve also repositioned System V (Low-E i89) as an add-on coating that boosts insulation performance across any series. It’s still here—just easier to understand. 

Why The Change?

The short answer: clarity. For years, our product naming leaned on technical terms like “Low-E” and “SunStop.” But homeowners don’t shop for coatings—they shop for comfort. These new names put the spotlight on what each glass series does for your home and lifestyle, not just how it’s built. 

    Understanding the Glass Series

    Each series offers a distinct set of benefits, depending on your climate and your comfort goals:

    • ComfortGain 180 is ideal in climates where passive solar heat is a plus. It allows more of the sun’s natural energy in—keeping your home bright and warm through all seasons.
    • ComfortPlus 270 is a balanced solution, perfect for regions that experience both heat and cold. It filters out excess solar heat and UV rays while still welcoming in plenty of natural light.
    • ComfortMax 366 delivers premium protection and efficiency in all seasons. It blocks up to 99% of UV rays—helping preserve interior furnishings—and minimizes unwanted heat without darkening your windows.

    Each glass series also includes several heat system configurations—unique combinations of coatings and panes—to match performance needs and energy goals, including dual pane and triple pane formats with argon gas fills for added insulation.

      What’s the difference between a glass series and heat system?

      • Glass Series refers to the broader category of Low-E coating configurations we offer, based on the primary Low-E technology used, overall performance and benefits (ComfortGain 180, ComfortPlus 270, ComfortMax 366). Each series has a different use case, based on how it manages heat, light, and UV protection.
      • Heat System refers to a specific coating configuration within a glass series. Each heat system (eg. HS1, HS1V, HS2, etc.) represents a unique combination of coatings and glass layers that determine how the system performs in terms of insulation and solar control.
      • Example: A customer choosing ComfortGain 180 (glass series) may be recommended HS1 (heat system).

      Let’s Talk Tech: U-Value vs. SHGC

      While comfort is the goal, performance still matters. So here’s a quick breakdown:

      • U-Value: Measures how well your window prevents heat loss. The lower the U-value, the better your window insulates.
      • SHGC (Solar Heat Gain Coefficient): Measures how much of the sun’s heat passes through the glass. Higher values bring in more heat—great in winter. Lower values reduce heat gain—ideal in summer.

      Each of our glass series strikes a different balance between these two factors. That means you can now choose the right glass based not just on where you live—but how you want your home to feel.

      What About System V?

      System V (Low-E i89) is still available—but you’ll now see it used as a performance booster rather than a separate series. Any heat system that includes this interior surface coating will now show a “V” in its system name (like HS1V), indicating enhanced insulation and condensation control—especially helpful in cold climates.
